Ambient Noise

Ambient Noise

A Poem by R. A. Duarte

To each a soul and to each a heart.

It cings so delicately like a drop of rain.

The multitude means nothing,

and the gaze of one means your whole world

Whether you walk or run

you must wait for the other to come.

You wait for them to catch up.

You want so much to tell them the truth

You want so much to tell them the world.

And when they lay beside you,

you remind yourself how fruitless are words.

So tell them the truth

Tell them your world.

Let them share with you how much you love them.

How much you care.

There is only one moment and one time.

If you miss it, it may be gone

and it may never return.

There is only one heart.

There is only one soul.

Share it well with the one you love.

And the rest of the world will be but ambient noise.

Killer last stanza. Way to save the message for the last possible moment. Keeps you hanging and sort of "in it" till the very end.
