Psychosis!

Psychosis!

A Poem by DIANA WILBANKS
"

A poem written from some of my experiences, not all personally but from helping others to cope and my studies of mental illness!I hope you enjoy this...God Bless you all! Dia

"

I unwillingly hear the voices,

echoing inside my head.

aware of my many choices,

one being,if I was dead.

I seem to try to stop.

this torment, I do feel.

pills, I have to pop,

to me are a big deal!

It really makes me sad,

my life,it looks so bleak,

having so little control,

feeling more,like a freak!

Enjoyong life has past,

happiness, I surely seek.

can't remember my last,

feeling comfortable and  meek.

My heart it will race,

breathing well,it's rough.

I try to save face...

friends,it's too darn tough.

Where or what now?

where should I turn?

do I  just take a bow?

leave behind all concerned.

No!I'll hand it to our Lord,

his strength guiding me.

all problems now aboard,

lifes blessings,i'll surely see!

Diane-you have a natural way with wording and the entire idea brings to mind
the very aspects of condition and how to cope with such- i felt the rhyme form
encapsulate the motion of the rhythm- really nice work-what gets me is the
way you projected emotion into the images, riveting Excllent job, you bring
maters that matter into light and i'm surte work like this draws encouragement

Diane, this was a powerful write and very very sad, but the last stanza shows some hope and that is what is needed in everyone's life! Great job!

I liked the opening lines:

"I unwillingly hear the voices,
echoing inside my head."

It reminds me of a poem my daughter once wrote where she said: "Do you hear voices in your head, or does God talk to you."

I think this poem portrays the torment and confusion of mental illness. But most of all I like the way the poem resolves itself with its closing lines. It brings hope to the desperation and sometimes, if you can hold onto hope with a tight grip, you can pull yourself out.
