The Poet Is Back!!!

by Aristede Craig Jr. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 6:56am

he walks around yelling the poet is back the poet is back
where all my brethren at
where the sister that kiss you with her words wearing her heart as lip gloss,
where the dudes throwing their words in the air where is the poetic toss
of the salad,
am i right am i valid;
checking my I D to see if it still intact
blow off the dust saying the poet is back
with his beat that he follow with his heart
merging with his poetry no longer apart
where he been all these months bout to be a new year ,
the poets back ya heard? I’m bout ta shock ya ear drums not speaking loud but so clear
he  about to pick up that dangerous paper anything he choose a pen or pencil;
the poets back he's been gathering his utensils,
i know I’m use to being alone
but i seem to miss stepping out of my world my own poetic zone,
to view others and their style their work ethic
the ones who put their heart on the paper and write,
so into the words they can pump life;
the poet is back check my stats they not decreasing just stood still for a while
still on my toes not my soles of my feet heading for that touchdown
want to celebrate when i get there do my lil dance
as if i don’t do that now while my stats get enhanced,
the poets back cut me some slack
i been slipping a bit
but i got new wheels on this track
found a good kit; to my poetic fix,
let’s get it started the rounds start over,
smelll? oh yeah that poetic odor
it’s in the air and so are my words they fly no more to the page they jump;
take huge leaps into place and bump,
the ones in the way that distort its beauty
and you swore this was my doing
ha! I’m a deliver a spine shiver
watch them break apart and reattach
at each massage of the words pound your back
not yet to your front but I’m sure it’s coming
begin the poets hitting hard again
with gentle strokes mixed in, what a beautiful blend
take it, ticket, everyone’s invited
come with me poets or by myself i riot
no longer on a diet ima bout to get fat with my love,
tip the scale as i stand above
feet not touching not even alil bit
i told you the poet is back Doop Edetsira broke out of his prison

Great piece! Re-claiming that art back and the self in passionate colours!
This is excellent work......I like the spoken word element that this piece could also work as xx
