Freedom and Its Innocence

My own understanding of freedom.

The freedom I share

is something different

My kind of meaning

What I understand of it

Freedom is like a plane

It flies in the air

Up above the sky

Where there is no hindrance

When you're up in the sky

When you fly

You feel lighter

Much better, calmer

There is no disturbance

There is nothing to block you

From going anywhere

You can go everywhere!

You feel you're in peace

Your mind is not warm or cold

Who would want to

Remove this tranquility?

Your desires may not be there

but it's like a piece

of the Paradise

We all want to have

You don't need to

Have all your desires

When you want to be free

So that you can smile in glee

Freedom just needs time

But then not everyone has

freedom in themselves

Unless they have inner peace

They say you only have freedom

When you are dying

Or when you're actually dead

Because you'll be in Heaven

But then, people try

To find freedom in themselves

While they're still living

To experience the moment

Freedom is not hard to define

It's not hard to describe

It's only hard when

we describe how we feel about it

Freedom. Free. Liberty.

The feeling of calmness

The feeling of peace

That's what freedom is.

Rizal mentioned once that we have to deserve freedom before getting the freedom we want. Rizal didn't want the independence of our country like most of us think. He wanted the Philippines to be a part of Spain not be free from Spain! He foretold what would happen: poverty would increase and many would die fighting for undeserved freedom. He knew the Filipinos were not that capable to handle a country. Yet, our ancestors were impatient. They wanted freedom without thinking. We should deserve freedom before getting it.
