Your Umbrella

Your Umbrella

A Poem by Emilia Svejda
"

I don’t think I was writing about rain…

"
When the storms come rolling,
You’ll need an umbrella.
I don’t care where you are
Or how you got there.
Just give me a call,
And I’ll come running.

Emilia,
Nice and simple enough to be elegant...
Makes me wish someone thought of me that way...

Unfortunately I don’t know enough about anything other than straight rhyming to comment on slant rhyming but I do always find it interesting to see people trying things I myself am not good at. Following a rhyme scheme and having it read the way it needs to is hard and you did that here.
I too don’t think you were writing about the rain, but I almost consider the description of most poems here to be a part of the work themselves.
The kind of loyalty you talk about here can be a powerful thing.

Interesting piece dealing with how we might be there for another as a protector or shield...
And a really deft touch with the near rhyme.
Emily D. is looking down, smiling at this poem.

We cannot know the situation this offering refers to, only that the speaker is addressing someone deeply valued. The tone could be either desperation or caring. Hopefully the result will be mutually beneficial.

No I don’t think you were writing about rain either. Makes me wish I could give you that call!

Reminds me of "Get here" by Oleta Adams. If you haven't heard this song go Google, it's so good:)
