Prologue

I never used to believe in angels and demons. To me they were just parts of an elaborate story about god, the devil, heaven, and hell that was used to scare children into behaving. They were about as real as things that went bump in the night in my opinion. I stopped believing in all of that about the same time I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny.

Now I know I was right. I was also very wrong.

I never used to believe in angels and demons, but then I used to be alive.
