I See You

I See You

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

A view into Avatar

"

I see you.

Do I know you?

Not yet, but soon, I hope.

You are a stranger to me.

You have crash-landed

into my world and

have taken life that

was not yours to take.

I see you.

Reckless and stupid and

stubbornly ignorant like a child.

I see you.

We give you a chance

to learn our ways.

You learn quickly, warrior,

swift on a bird’s wing.

I teach you,

and you learn well.

I see you.

I see you and your growth.

It is time.

I see you.

Warrior, the test has proven true.

I trust you

as I see how you

have conquered your steed.

You fly, warrior,

better than any other

I have seen before.

I see you

change before my eyes.

I see you.

As the Sky People destroy our home,

as they pillage our roots,

as they murder the People.

I see you.

Warrior, you knew?

You betrayed me.

I see you.

I need your help, my warrior.

Death is upon the People

and I am afraid for our world.

I see you.

I need you.

Let us battle for our home.

I see you.

My brave warrior, you are amazing.

Your power is breathtaking,

and it makes me tremble.

We battle for our lives.

I see you.

You and I, we are one.

Together in battle.

I see you.

You are one of the People.

Truly, our life is yours

and yours ours.

We are one with each other,

connected in a way

no other understands.

I see you.

And I love you.

Yes, this is from the point of view of Neytiri, one of the Na'vi from Avatar. Her view pinpoints all the major events in the film.

"I see you" is the greeting of the Na'vi people, used a lot in the film.

I wrote this right after I finished watching the movie.

well i enjoyed it in spite of or maybe because of the obvious avatar influence.
well constructed and beautifully worded. good job!

Despite the avatar influence, I feel that this has got a Sylvia Plath feel to it' just through the imagery and the slightly aggressive tone. And the beginning "I see you/Do I know you?" has an Emily Dickinson thing going for it too.
