RAIN

It rained on this gloomy day

As dark as the world of man

And I let it kiss me

With droplets as gentle

As kitten feet

And smiled with what only I knew

That once we welcomed rain.

 

We walked in downpours

Hand in hand, every storm

While everyone else

Simply got wet.

And once we danced in the rain  

We were passing a music store

And everyone applauded.

 

I can see your face again

Covered with droplets

Falling around your smile

The vibrant eyes

Your arms held open

You turning in circles

Beneath the pregnant clouds

 

Now rivulets slide down the pane

And mountain gods grumble

In the distance.

The fireplace chatters

And I lift my glass

To you, darling

And from somewhere I hear music.

Some couple would avoid rain by running at opposite directions but there are those who would hold each other, embrace, and dance under the rain. It’s strange that I see my parents in this beautifully written piece. endearing write.

I think anyone who has been in love can relate to walking in the rain or the snow with that special someone...its not where you are but who you are with...Lovely poem and enjoyed the bittersweet ending too...:)

You never cease to amaze me with your ability to inbue lasting feelings of love - those of eternal love that allow you to ever feel the rain as you remember the times in it, to still hear the music after the mountain gods have finished their grumble and as the rain shall surely fall again and again from pregnant clouds while you are alone, but waiting to be as one again!
So very lovely, but with a tone of melancholy that tugs at my heartstrings!
