Head Chasing Tail

i was downstairs watching TV; a poem birthed to mind; i paused the show and ran upstairs; immediately had no idea what my "inspiration" had been. so here to you now is my head chasing tail.

Head Chasing Tail

I lost the most important elf

my thoughts to write and bring 

to you my friends and neighbors same;

a place where angels sing.

you see my friends, as muse unfurled

my hand was not so quick

i could not find a paper scrap

nor pen nor candles wick;

and so in darkness i appealed

to memory short and lost

to clue to me the mystery

of poems lost in frost.

I had a great review all ready to go, but my fingers forgot what my mind said lol. Personally, I can not relate to this at all...smirk. A friend of mine suggested a pocket recorder. A great idea, if I could remember to get one when I'm out.

I write everything, very much, in the hour before Goodling off to work. Occasionally an idea will pop into my head, I consciously log it, but get home only to find the lumberjack of amnesia has been and gone. Enjoyed this ET and would imagine all that read this can relate.

thanks Gee ..glad you enjoyed reading ..yes i suspect you are right about us all :} ... can you imagine all those words and phrases just floating around in the ether ... do you think thats where our written creations really come from? ... the escapees find there way to someone who is prepared to snag and hold them on paper ;)

Know, all too well, what you mean, E Noodle.
There was a time when my memory was so sharp I remembered things for which I had no use.
Now, as I grow older--at what appears to be an increasing rate--I do sometimes actually lose creative notions.
An excellent poem, E; one which I wish did not so well resonate with me.

That happens nearly all the time, sleep beckons, yet stories keep running, chasing you, through your mind. Yet when you go to put it down on paper you draw a blank. Pain control meds can do a number on your brain.

I love how you worded and added the music to join your poem all worked well.. Brilliant last line "Lost in the frost" Some of my work got lost in long term pain meds

truly empathetic to your deals with long term pain and its medication .. my life has been fortunate health-wise .. and yes just before sleep is a garden of Dali thoughts and images .. sometimes they snap be back awake instead of drifting me off ... i think those thoughts are too subliminal to recall but many times struggle to .. seems important for some reason .. i'm gratified you enjoyed the poem and music ... it was fun putting together

I hate when this happens E... I have used my sledge hammer on more than one occasion but nothing comes out... I do have a very lumpy head now though and you would be surprised to know what I find in these lumps... oh boy!! also even when I do get and keep an idea writing it down sometimes it gets lost and so I have like a forest of paper with half written poems scattered in my room... one of these days I will take a few and put the lines together and call it "nonsensical verse"... probably become the best stuff I have ever written... lol hey we can be ironic in poems can't we??!! love the song you embedded here E... loved the poem too a love poem right!!?? ;0)
