My Mother

An ode to my mom...

A ray of hope,

A shining light,

A gift of God,

A reassuring sight.

A blessing of heaven,

A comforting face,

A rose pure,

In the world’s race.

A blessing Divine,

A sparkling star,

Whose hug takes you,

Into a world afar.

Face aglow,

Smiling sweet,

Helping you,

Stand on your feet.

Comforting us,

When we cry,

Working day and night,

But never a sigh.

To me she is,

Very dear,

With her by my side,

Never fear.

Author's Note

I wrote this for my mother about 4 years back. I haven't edited it again so any suggestions are welcome. :) And send me a title picture for the poem.

P.s. i understand where some other readers are coming from when they say it's slightly odd in some parts but at the same time writing is a way to express yourself and substituting emotion for flow, rhythm, etc, to me would be taking away from the piece, A bit more originality could be used I agree but regardless this is a great poem.

Flawless. This is a great piece and has so much truth behind it. My mother is the exact same way. Having good parents is something that shouldn't be taken for granted because many kids who deserve good parents grow up in broken homes. Well written. Keep it up.

I agree with other reviews that the flow and cadence of the poem is good, but the actual content is a little clichéd. It's obvious that this is a heartfelt poem, but it needs originality. For example, "A blessing of heaven" is vague and reads like a mothers day card.
Nonetheless, from your poem, it's obvious your mum is very special to you.
