It's not all about "forbidden love" like Twilight. It`s kind of like a revamped version of WWII (ish) with vampires representing the Nazi party and humans as the Allies and the Jewish , mentally unstable, physically crippled, etc. [people of Europe]. And of course, romance is involved, but it's not the main focus (or it's not intended to be, anyway).
