From me to you

From me to you

A Poem by Richard Man
"

Advice to anyone thinking about falling in love

"

From me to you:

Advice to anyone thinking about falling in love.

You cannot think about it.

You cannot lay in bed alone and dream.

You cannot pad, wolf-like, down side-walks, hunting.

Or stir intricate patterns in your mid-morning latte

And plan it.

That’s pure fantasy.

Love is not out there like a pot-hole,

A cliff or a treasure chest to be wary of

Lest you  fall in or off or over it.

It isn’t supposed to be...

Either a lottery

Or your destiny. Love just is.

Get on with living that’s what love’s about.

When you’re ready to give,

Then,

In the blink of an eye,

During the micro-second between a lub and a dup.

There's a pause where there's no future tense.

And the now lasts longer than all of history.

Smile and

Quite simply and freely give.

Dive deeply with no pretense,

Naked of all deception, into each other’s pool,

And open the lock-gates that divide you.

Share the rush.

And get on with loving that’s what life’s about.

Nice and yes I agree, though when you have done nothing but given and been used and abused for it the idea of doing it again without at least some hesitation is rather absurd. Not looking for love and just getting on with things, though, is the best way to go, though, we can dream, and we can wish, and we can write about love .... at least from a safe distance. :) Nice write, deep and with a lot of meaning.

"in each other's pool"

how ironic as i read this it is my relationship now.

a wonderful relationship that just happened...

and we met at the pool...

but neither of us looking for anything...both having had several failed relationships and both single for about 6 or 7 years...and boom, there we were, and here we are.

very nice write..

you are so natural...i shall be visiting your page much more often.

Hummm ... I like your style of writing, like an open line of thought. But this "love" thing ... I just wonder if it's gone the way of the T-rex. What I see now is "What do you do?", "Do you have kids?", "Are those real?", ""What do you drive" .... it's more of a job interview. And we even lie in the ceremony ... "Til death do us part." PFFFFFFFFT. both sides are thinking, "Well if it doesn't work out ... I'll move on." I LOVE how you fuse words ... I'm just a skeptic. [Deep sigh]

A very insightful and telling poem. It speaks to me of real love and not the lust/desire that we so often misinterpret for the real thing.
(During the micro-second between a lub and a dup.
There's a pause where there's no future tense.
And the now lasts longer than all of history.) I love these lines because that micro-second between a lub and a dub is exactly where unconditional, eternal love exists.
Well done and insightful.

Lovely write , we have a tendency to plan it all , the future , how love will be what we expect. Love is and sometimes we need to dive in live for the now and then it unfolds. Off course not very easy to do !

You must not be having relationships with the same guys I am. It's more pot hole, cliff like. ;-)

In all seriousness, I understand fully what you're saying...if we don't abandon ourselves totally then there is no insanity of ecstasy to be had. Bliss is found in the absence of fear, it's just a scary direction if you've been bamboozled before. It's a great write.
