Red Vengeance Scene 61- 71 (END)A Screenplay by ForgottenINT. WILLIAM'S
HOUSE (RED'S BEDROOM) - MORNING 61. RED is led down in bed, the covers over her head hiding
from the light. A knock comes from her door. WILLIAM Red, could I come
in please? RED does not respond and lays staring at the darkness
under her covers. WILLIAM (CONT) RED? Again she does not respond. WILLIAM opens the door slowly
and peers through. WILLIAM (CONT) Hey...how you
feeling this morning? HE looks over to her holster hanging from the windowsill,
a small patch of dried blood is underneath it from the blood soaked gun. RED takes the covers of her slowly. RED (Weakly) I don't really
feel in the mood to talk WILLIAM. HER voice cracks from all the crying. WILLIAM I'm sorry should I
come back later? RED shakes her head quickly. RED No, I want you here
but...please I just don't want to talk. WILLIAM enters and closes the door, he stands quietly for
a second. WILLIAM May I sit with
you? RED nods, WILLIAM smiles slightly and sits on the bed
facing away from her. RED hugs him from behind and presses her head against his
back. RED It's all my
fault... WILLIAM No- RED Yes it is William,
if I didn't come here none of them would be dead. WILLIAM stays silent afraid to say something wrong. RED (CONT) If I hang around
much longer...I'm afraid of what will happen next. WILLIAM So. You’re not
going to stay here? RED hugs him tighter. RED No...William, I've
caused enough damage. WILLIAM turns to face her. RED I'm leaving
tonight. WILLIAM No, Red it's not
your fault. RED (Shouts tearfully) Yes it is William! WILLIAM grasps hold of her hand tightly. WILLIAM No it is not,
please don't leave. I need you here, I want you here. RED No, I can't! SHE tries to pull back. WILLIAM Red, I love you
for god sake! RED freezes in shock, she averts his gaze for a second. RED What was that? WILLIAM blushes and looks away. WILLIAM I-I...I said I
love you. I love you RED. RED's eyes fill with tears again, she places her hand on
his cheek and turns him to face her. RED I...I love you too
WILLIAM. WILLIAM leans in to kiss her, yet she avoids it and leans
against his chest, HE gets the hint and hugs her tightly. RED Why don't you
leave with me? We could start a new life somewhere. WILLIAM frowns. WILLIAM I can't everyone I
love is here, I couldn't leave them now, not in times like this. RED sighs and closes her eyes. RED Then I guess...our
love is doomed not to work then. WILLIAM holds her close and squeezes her tighter. WILLIAM Yeah, I guess you’re
right. INT. WILLIAM'S HOUSE (RED'S BEDROOM) -
NIGHT 62. RED lays soundly in bed sleeping, she stirs slightly and
turns over, yet does not wake up. The moon is hiding behind the clouded sky. INT. WILLIAM'S HOUSE -
NIGHT
63. WILLIAM sits at the table with his head in his hands, he
sighs and looks into his hands. WILLIAM What am I gonna
do? HE slams his hands on his head. WILLIAM What the hell am I
going to do!? Suddenly a knock comes at the door, he stays silent. The
knock comes again. He stands and approaches the door. He opens the door to see
the SHERIFF and JOSEPH. WILLIAM Hey, what do you
wan- The SHERIFF hits him in the head with his blunderbuss.
WILLIAM is knocked out and falls to the ground. SHERIFF Quick grab his
legs. JOSEPH grabs hold of his legs and they begin to drag him
away. INT. SHERIFF'S STATION - MOMENTS
LATER
64. The room is lit only by a couple of torches, The Sheriff
is sat polishing his blunderbuss, WILLIAM is led face down in the cell and
begins to stir. WILLIAM groans and weakly lifts himself up. SHERIFF AH, so your awake
at last, you been out for the last hour. WILLIAM Where am I? The SHERIFF smiles. SHERIFF Why you’re in jail
boy, enjoy your stay because you’re not leaving until you show your true
colours. WILLIAM My true colours? I
don't know what your- The SHERIFF interrupts him. SHERIFF Don't play dumb
with me I know what you are...Werewolf. WILLIAM's eyes widen. WILLIAM But...it's a full
moon tonight! SHERIFF I know, that's the
idea. He smiles grimly at him. SHERIFF (CONT) Let’s see what
your little girlfriend thinks about you when she sees what you really are. WILLIAM stands and begins to kick the bars. WILLIAM No! You have to
let me out, please! SHERIFF I'm sorry boy, I
have no intention in letting you out, not like this anyway. He winks at him and continues to polish his gun. WILLIAM You're a monster,
a villain and most importantly, you are the scum you accuse others of...being a
criminal. SHERIFF Call me names all
you want boy, after tonight...we'll see who's boss. He smiles at him
again and ignores him. WILLIAM hits the bars with his fists. INT. JOSEPH'S HOUSE - NIGHT
65. JOSEPH is pacing back and forth breathing heavily, he
bites at his fingertips, he nervous mumbles to himself. JOSEPH (Mumbles) What am I doing? JOSEPH stops. JOSEPH (Yells) What am I doing...What
am I doing!? He swings and knocks glasses off the table. JOSEPH What the hell am I
doing!? JOSEPH storms over to his front door and leaves. INT. SHERIFF'S STATION - MOMENTS
LATER
66. WILLIAM is sat on the floor sweating and shivering. The
SHERIFF looks over his desk and laughs. SHERIFF Feeling the
effects are we now? WILLIAM mumbles to himself. WILLIAM H-h-help...h-h-help... Suddenly the door swings open and JOSEPH enters. JOSEPH Sheriff, what we
are doing is wrong?! The SHERIFF rolls his eyes and places his blunderbuss
next to him. SHERIFF Aww...don't tell
me little ol' Joe’s gettin' cold feet. JOESPH slams his hands down on the desk. JOSEPH You tell everyone
you care about this town and everyone in it, yet what are you doing? SHERIFF Well I'm saving it
of course. JOSEPH No you’re not! You’re
setting a poor girl up for her death and you’re willing to sacrifice the whole
town for this tyrannical rampage. SHERIFF Tyrannical
rampage?! I am the only one who knows what's damn well good for this town! JOSEPH You’re everything
wrong with this town, you are the one causing this hell, not that poor young
girl. The SHERIFF stands up quickly holding his blunderbuss. SHERIFF I suggest you get
the hell out of here and stick to the plan, or so help me I will make sure you
don't leave walking. JOSEPH scowls at him. JOSEPH I'm not going
anywhere. The SHERIFF tilts his head to the side. SHERIFF Fine...then die. He fires a shot straight into JOSEPH's chest, he flies
backwards hitting the wall. He splutters and blood drips from his mouth. SHERIFF (CONT) Such a pity, I
thought someone saw eye to eye with me in this town. The SHERIFF sits back down and reloads his gun. SHERIFF (CONT) Guess I was wrong. JOSEPH (Spluttering) You’re...a...monster. SHERIFF Funny, WILLIAM
said the very same thing. He grins at JOSEPH. INT. WILLIAM'S HOUSE (RED'S BEDROOM) -
MOMENTS EARLIER 67. A gunshot sounds from outside, RED sits bolt upright. SHE
moves to the window and looks outside, SHE spots something going on over at the
SHERIFF's station. Across the street people look out from their windows yet are
too scared to leave. People close their windows and lock the doors, RED grabs
hold of her guns, and gets dressed. SHE holsters her Winchester rifle onto her
back and leaves the house. EXT. KIDO - MAIN STREET - MOMENTS LATER
68. RED runs out into the middle of the streets holding onto
her two colt.45's, the wind picks up around her and whips her hair around her
face. She looks up into the sky, the clouds begin to roll by and thin out. SHE looks around the street trying to pinpoint the sound
of the gunshot. She runs over to JOSEPH's house and begins to knock. RED Joseph? She continues to knock. RED (CONT) (panicked) Joseph? SHE knocks harder. RED (CONT) (Shouts) Joseph?! Please
answer the door! RED runs to BRYAN's house and begins to knock
frantically. RED (CONT) Bryan, answer the
door please?! BRYAN (O.S) Please just go
away RED knocks harder. RED Please Bryan, I
can't find William. Please just answer. It goes quiet for a second inside. BRYAN (O.S) I'm sorry. She stops knocking and steps back away from the door. SHERIFF Well well... RED turns around to see the SHERIFF holding onto his
blunderbuss and approaching her slowly. SHERIFF (CONT) It seems our
little murderer is up and out of bed. RED scowls. SHERIFF (CONT) Tell me, how does
it feel knocking you single handedly destroyed a peaceful little town, full of
people who wanted nothing, but to make filthy scum like you feel welcome. RED looks to the ground. RED (Mutters) Shut up... The SHERIFF puts his hand up to his ear. SHERIFF S'cuse me darling? RED (Shouts) I said shut up! HE places his hand against his heart. SHERIFF Aww...did I hit a
raw nerve there missy? RED tenses her hands around the handles of her colt.45's. RED What's going on here
SHERIFF? The SHERIFF lifts his hands up. SHERIFF Redemption like no
other. RED (Confused) What do you mean? SHERIFF Well you die
and...the town will be saved, now I don't know bout' you cupcake, but that
sounds pretty darn good in my book. RED laughs, the SHERIFF scowls at her and points his
blunderbuss at her. SHERIFF (Angrily) Now what is so
damn funny scum! SHE continues to laugh harder. SHERIFF (CONT) (Shouts angrily) Answer me! Suddenly she stops laughing. RED I've never heard
dumber words come...from an outlaw. The SHERIFF growls and takes his aim off her. SHERIFF You better hold
onto those last words of yours. Stick around... HE looks into the sky, the full moon begins to appear
from behind the clouds. SHERIFF The party is about
to start. He grins at her and walks away. INT. SHERIFF'S STATION - SAME TIME
69. WILLIAM grasps hold of his heart, and clenches hold. HIS
breath becomes erratic and sweat begins to drip down his forehead. WILLIAM (Whimpers) R-R-Red... Suddenly his back sounds a loud crack. WILLIAM (Shouts) Red! EXT. KIDO - MAIN STREET - SAME
TIME
70. RED looks over to the SHERIFF's station. RED (Shouts) William?! SHE begins to run over to the station. WILLIAM (O.S) (Shouts) Run! SHE continues to run over to the station, dust picks up
from the floor and the wind becomes gale force. She reaches the station and
grasps hold of the handle. Suddenly a loud howl pierces the sky. She takes a
step back and clamps her hand over her ears. RED (Shouts) William. A werewolf burst out of the station splintering the wood
and tearing the wall down, RED falls backwards to the floor. It rushes out and
stops in the centre of the street. It stands on its hind legs like a human, its
arms dangle to the side. RED's eyes widen in horror and shock as she stares at the
black beast. It thrusts it's head upwards and howls loudly. RED covers her ears
and curls up as if she is trying to escape the situation. The SHERIFF laughs manically. SHERIFF Yes, yes! May this
day be known, as the day of redemption! He throws his arms up and laughs loudly looking into the
sky. HE looks over to RED. SHERIFF (CONT) So little lady,
what you gonna do now...werewolf hunter... HE chuckles. The werewolf looks over to The SHERIFF and
focuses his gaze upon him. The werewolf begins to growl and bare its teeth. The
SHERIFF takes a step back and lifts his blunderbuss. SHERIFF (CONT) Avert your gaze
beast! It growls and rushes at him. He fires a shot at the
werewolf yet it misses him. SHERIFF (CONT) S**t! He throws his gun to the ground and turns to run, yet the
werewolf is too fast and slashes his back knocking him to the ground. HE cries
out in pain, he turns over and crawls backwards in the barren dirt. SHERIFF (CONT) H-have mercy! HE pants loudly. SHERIFF (CONT) Please spare me! The werewolf snarls and growls loudly pinning the
SHERIFF's arms to the ground. HE begins to sob. The werewolf lowers his head
closer to the SHERIFF's face. The SHERIFF turns his head away avoiding the eyes
of the beast. The beast drools onto the SHERIFF and opens his mouth, he
lunges at him. A gunshot sounds and the werewolf falls to the side, whining in
pain. The SHERIFF looks over to RED, she's is seen holding her winchester rifle
and panting heavily, tears wetted her face. The SHERIFF looks over in disbelief. The werewolf stands
on its hind legs, its wound to its left arm burns and blood runs from it
slowly. It snarls and howls. The SHERIFF scurries to his feet and gets out of the way.
The Werewolf looks over to RED and the two take part in a staring down match. RED (Shouts) Leave him be
beast, this man's fate belongs to the people of Kido! The werewolf growls loudly. RED (CONT) And your
fate...lies with me. The werewolf pants. RED (CONT) I came here
looking for the beast of Kido, yet I was only to discover...that the beast was
me all along. SHE drops her winchester rifle to the floor. RED (CONT) I grew angry at
the werewolf who killed my family long ago, and with that hatred I grew to hate
everything... RED looks to her feet. RED (CONT) And everyone...yet
I found love in this forsaken town...an emotion I had be so deprived of for so
long. SHE looks up to the werewolf again. RED (CONT) I met a man, who
led me from my self-hatred and the solitude I had built...that man was
you...William. The werewolf lowers it arms and begins to calm, tears
began to well up in her eyes. RED (CONT) So I ask you,
William, come at me as you will... SHE grasps hold of a single Colt'45. RED (CONT) And let me lay you
to rest...so we can be together again... Then a tears rolls from the werewolves eyes and soaks
into its fur. It growls loudly and rushes at RED, the wind whips RED's hair
around and a single teardrop falls from her face onto her gun. RED (Whispers) I love you. A shot fires and the werewolf stops, it falls to the
floor a mere couple inches from her and whimpers. It looks up at her and a tear
runs from its eye. It falls to the floor and begins to transform. RED looks over him and tears roll from her face. Finally
the transformation is complete and WILLIAM is left in its place. She falls to her knees and lefts WILLIAM over her legs.
SHE turns him over and he looks up to her, he smiles. WILLIAM (Whispers) I'm...sorry... HIS eyes close and his body goes limp. RED begins to sob
and holds him tight to her. The SHERIFF looks over to her and takes his hat
from his head and presses it to his chest. A few tears leave his eyes. RED (Whispers/Sobbing) You’re forgiven. Everyone looks out from their windows and peer out form
the doors out onto the two laying in the street. RED's tears fall onto
WILLIAM's face and she shivers. She looks down to him and runs her fingers through his
hair. She smiles slightly. RED (CONT) (Sobbing) At least...we can
finally be together. RED stands up leaving WILLIAM's limp body on the ground. RED (O.V) From the day
werewolves killed my family, I never believed I would be able to feel again.
Love, happiness, hope. It all became a constant void for me. Yet this town
changed me, the people here helped me, accepted me. I had not been given
acceptance for a long time, until this man opened his heart for me and let me
in. When hope opens its door for you it's hard to say no... RED presses her gun against her head. RED (O.V) For I have never
felt a love like this, and for that William...I say...thank you... A shot fires and RED falls to the ground. The townsfolk
all gasp and some look away. Tears roll from the people and the SHERIFF wipes
tears away from his eye. He lays his hat to the ground and begins to walk away
into the wilderness, alone with his blunderbuss. RED lays side by side with
WILLIAM, with a slight smile, finally, a last single tear rolls down her cheek
soaking into the dirt floor. EXT. WILDERNESS (JUST OUTSIDE TOWN) - A FEW
DAYS LATER 71.
BRYAN stands alone just before sunset, the amber sky
provides almost little daylight. He looks down upon a single grave and wipes a
tear away from his eye. The grave reads, 'RIP William Froid & Red
Vengeance' he smiles at the grave gently and presses his hands together to
pray. BRYAN Dear lord, please
lay pity upon to these two lovers, as short as it may have been, it was purer
than many ever feel. A look over my sweet ROSALINA and SADIE, the two sweetest
gals you'll ever set your eyes upon. He chuckles. BRYAN Please look after
them Lord, in your everlasting name, Amen. BRYAN opens his eyes, sniffs and wipes a tear from his
