Born in the wrong Era

Born in the wrong Era

A Poem by Forgotten
"

I love the older things in life, I want to own a pocket watch and I want to own a record player. Some people can't understand.

"
The meadow was still,
Like a portrait it captured its magnificent beauty,
Only the sound of the wind dancing with the leaves accompanied me that day.

I feel wrong,
Born into the wrong era I am misunderstood,
A lover of the older things in life,
I am shunned in society.

Tick tock..tick tock,
I look at my pocket watch,
Judged by the people around me I am yet again,
A ghost in peoples eyes,
A shade under the tree of modernization,
Forever to be Judged.

I feel right,
Alone in my own right I am unique,
I, lover of the older things, smile upon life,
For this tree is my safe haven,
Allowing me to be invisible,
And free from being judged.

I have read some of the other reviews and find it interesting that so many people can relate to what you have written.
Sometimes at work I want the pace to slow down just a bit - "more haste, less speed" doesn't seem to count any more. Sometimes I too wish that life's pace wasn't always in the fast lane.
You summed it up so well.

This was awesome! I also think I'm born in the wrong era. Course I ain't got no tree but I don't need one right now. This was really great.

The title of this poem is what initially stirred my curiosity. The poem exudes such profound emotion; a very gentle and pleasant read. Thanks for sharing it.

Some places and eras are better. A slower pace to enjoy all things.
"Alone in my own right I am unique,
I, lover of the older things, smile upon life,"
A very good ending to a outstanding poem.
