~Words Of Love~(Sonnet)

Love you are to me, drops of honeywine
With each new kiss beneath the golden sun
Your lips sweet bouquet, quench this thirst of mine
Our love has entwined, for all time as one.

Valentine,we shall sing loves sweetest tune
Share eternal bliss, 'neath a silver moon
Of Cupid's Cup, we'll drink a toast to love
Kindly condoned by the heavens above

Let's reach for the highest star in the sky
These words of love, are meant for only you
The sun, moon and stars, know this to be true
Forever, we'll cherish love, you and I

You are to me sweet Love, my heart's delight
These Words of Love I'll pledge, each day, each night.

Great mythic imagery for Valentine's Day: "drops of honeywine" in "Cupid's Cup." This is a wonderful answer to the Valentine's Day Challenge -- and you didn't even have to wrack your brain for something new! :D

This one hales back to Victorian romantic poetry for me. Love it. How did I miss it before?

NOTES: you need spaces behind several of your commas

Has a nice ring to it, like something you'd imagine to hear from a minstrel accompanied by the lute. Am not really overly keen on classical forms but they always are nice on occasion and this one is great actually reading it again I imagine it being sung by a soprano, but not completely formal, so rather like a recitative.

I think we know it's a sonnet Fran lol... I absolutely loved it...really! It's an amazing piece of literature that has Dickins/Browning style quality. You have done yourself proud as you weave your words and paint a canvas of genuine beauty...sublime...refreshing...powerful...
Congrats...Cheers...

Petrarchian sonnet, well managed here, iambic pentameter is on the mark. i am just now trying to fool around with meter. some people say I have a natural talent for it, but I still need to work on it. it is not easy. this poem speaks the sentiments of Cooleridge and Wordsworth. nice style.
