Conquest

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Senryu

"

revel in success
while you may another day
you won the battle

cunning victory
outfox I will~ fill the bill
I have won the war

lol..thank s Robert.for the reviews on my poems;
Ah, an original, poetic rendition of that old truth... Even if one wins the battle, he/she is not declared victorious... for the war continues.

Anytime my friend
Your poem succinctly shows how competitive people view any matching of wit or ability in life. But as your gloating narrator may discover, winning the battle or the war may not always unfold as the raving success that a victor may imagine! Love your thought-provoking snippet of life! Fran, applause on success with Senryu (honestly, I'm clueless about all the poetry rules). I must admit I laughed when I read this one. I can hear a woman saying this to her man. As a man, I know one loss will surely follow a victory, even if delayed. I just expect it! Good one!

You're far too good at this form, Fran Mari.. so yet again, i call 'Brava!' Wish I had time and patience to count up how many times I've typed that underneath one of your offerings.. and for how many years. Thank you for the wit and the example of 'how to.. ' :)

Reciprocated 100%. Wishing you a lucky penny and a lasting smile!
Love these two linked senryu especially with the defiance and sense of triumph injected into the final one!

Thanks John..glad you enjoyed this one..I
ever so appreciate your words;
oh this is so good...two separate senryu that can stand on their own, and yet combined work nicely as cause and effect...
one battle at a time.
