Who Did It

Who Did It

A Poem by George David Hope
"

Something I came up with after making a joke at work

"
                                                                      WHO DID IT
Somebody turned of the mother in laws life support
Who could the culprit be
I hope I don't get questioned by the police
They might guess it's me
I need a real good alibi
One so water tight
I'll say I was abducted by aliens
Who came during the night
I snuck up to her hospital bed
With the machines I did tamper
Removed all the plugs
Then quickly away I did scamper
Alarms rang as she flatlined
Nurses ran about
The old bat has popped her clogs
A few of them did shout
They saw the flexes had all been cut
Plugs they all were missing
All they could do was stand helpless
I laughed so hard I started pissing
One tried chest compressions
A derfib from a wall was taken down
They put the paddles on her chest
As they opened up her gown
They tried to give her mouth to mouth
But alas it was all in vain
But deep down they knew a service had been done
By getting rid of such a pain
So who did this wicked deed
If I knew I wouldn't tell
But I was always told as a child
If a jobs worth doing it worth doing well

Overall, this is a great concept for a fun, sassy poem, plus you depicted this scene with clever details that make the humorous situation pop. Strong storytelling in verse. I felt it a teensy bit repetitive when you say -- "plugs removed" and a few lines later -- "plugs missing" . . . but your details are fresh & inventive, for the most part. I love the scene depicting them trying to revive her while narrator pisses himself. This is pure enjoyable hilarity! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'm wondering if this could be used against you in a court of law

Mother-in-laws seem made for humor. Of course, I hear they meet secretly and talk about son-in-laws, telling the nastiest jokes. You know she'll haunt you forever, for this one and all the others, though funny as hell (pardon the pun). :)
