A tree is dead

A tree is dead

A Poem by Gaurav
"

"
A tree is dying
Rain drops collided
with unrealistic feelings
trapped in environment
In weak moment
we closed our doors
on such a calamity
But a tree remained
Disgust, anger, jealousy and fear
corrupted the rays of sun
and attracted death
In shame and polluted thoughts
we closed our eyes
to imagine it just another dream
But a tree kept its ground
The breath we took
assassinated the flow of oxygen
Techniques came to the rescue
and we drove in cars
But a tree still hugged the wind
Another world where
imagination took us to,
we kept hoping for a better future
A nation will take us,
for sure, to Mars and beyond
But a tree is and will be
Who will provide for a tree?
Who will rescue it?
You murderers of each entity
in a food chain, will you?
I don't think so.
Bound and hallucinated with self-love,
will you care for anything else?
I really doubt so.

So be where you are.
In your luxurious and comfortable adobe.
And enjoy new shows on your television.
Enjoy each bit of it and then get bored.
Don't you worry.
They will find more entertainment for you.
Because they are humans too.
Don't question your reality.
Because doing so will require an effort.
A mental effort.
You lazy molecules, will you ever think?
You have mental paralysis.
And your rotten thoughts have given up.
A tree is dying.
Go and see.
Because of you.
And you don't even recognize it?
Guilt and regret are too far.
A tree doesn't need you.
It is ashamed to have lived among you.
And now, A tree is dead.

Most people do not think in terms of "how many trees are we killing?" I love how your poem shows the complete opposite of this. Your poem makes it feel like the narrator can't take a step or jump in his car without thinking about what this might be costing the environment. This is the kind of thinking it will require for humans to clean up their acts & treat the planet better. Very original way to present your thoughts & arguments about this timely topic! Happy Easter if you celebrate it . . . Happy Spring if you don't! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A timely write always, when talking about nature and human greed. Cutting of trees has become a part of urbanisation, and replacing the green somewhere is not always in human agenda. It's really pathetic and shameful to observe such kind of inhuman activity... Your poem is apt here

thank you for your review
how sad, I see some trees who are dying, and yes, they have that expression...it makes me feel guilty always...even though I have tried to be nice to the environment. We don't own nature...we rent space from her...we owe her for what she gives us...

welcome...slip over to my page some time...would enjoy a visit from you.
Oh my goodness...this is so hard hitting and so needed more than ever of late. I wish more understood the efforts of caring for such things as trees should be a necessity not a chore or when we can be bothered to notice...brilliant piece Gaurav :)

Thank you Ruth
Protecting our planet should be top of everyone's agenda, but sadly it isn't. I have a huge affinity with trees and they feature a good deal in my writing. Any tree that dies is a sadness tone.
