Melancholic Eagles

Melancholic Eagles

A Poem by Devons
"

Made up entirely from song titles by The Eagles

"

Take it easy witchy woman
chug all night
most of us are sad
train leaves here this morning -
                        take the devil.
Early bird, tequila sunrise
certain kind of fool
you never cry like a lover.
Midnight flyer
one of these nights
after the thrill has gone
tryin' those shoes
out of control, already gone
the long run, journey of the sorcerer
James Dean, on the border
outlaw man, my man
victim of love
heartache tonight -
          I wish you peace.

Take it to the limit, lyin' eyes
saturday night visions
the last resort, try and love again
in the city, the disco strangler
teenage jail, pretty maids all in a row
Hollywood waltz, too many hands
desperado, twenty-one, new kid in town
King of Hollywood, doolin' dalton, nightingale -
wasted time, I can't tell you why.
Good day in hell, is it true?
Hotel California, life in the fast lane.

Bitter creek,
peaceful easy feeling -
the sad cafe,
best of my love.

Ha, another titles piece. This one has a busy yet slightly sad feel to it. Especially here:
"Take it to the limit, lyin' eyes
saturday night visions
the last resort, try and love again
in the city, the disco strangler
teenage jail, pretty maids all in a row
Hollywood waltz, too many hands
desperado, twenty-one, new kid in town
King of Hollywood, doolin' dalton, nightingale -
wasted time, I can't tell you why."

To me it kinda sounds like a city-lifer just bustling along with all this random stuff going on and he doesnt know why nor does he know how to give it real meaning. If that makes any sense. Ha. Nice work.

... wow ... haven't heard much ... have heard the commonly circulated tracks ... but i must say this has their sound ... the visuals ... the haunting echoes ... that one claim of Hotel California that casts a spell ... "You can checkout any time you like," ... "But you can never leave!" ... this write doesn't leave ... very skillfully written ...

This is art above art. I totally accept it, for it is a good art. I mean, who can create something like this? So playful, so pointing out - I love Eagles, now I am going to listen to complete CDs by this group.

Hotel California is my favorite song.. I am old-fashioned. I know. But I grew up in former dictatorship-land. haha so it is.

What I like here, is the ability to convey titles of songs and find them in this coherent message. This poem speaks the spirit of its time, it is really manifesting its values. I love how you keep music history for us. You make us aware. Grabs rock lovers instantly!! This is quite simply the most intriguing rock poem on WC.

Cool Idea. I like it, but "I can't tell you why."

You don't know my theory that everything in life can be explained by a seventies ballad or, more appropriate, an Eagles song. Now you do! And you wrote it all out here, so there must be some truth to the theory! I am amazed at your ability to combine existing phrases so deftly. This works incredibly well.

Lol, cool stuff, the Eagles are one of my favorite all time groups. I did a piece like this with tons of songs, I think its called, The Songs of my Life, its way back in my pages somewhere (Yeah I know, shameless plug ha). This was fun, you have a good sense of humor mate.

Keep on keeping brother. And yes, take it easy.

I can't tell you why, but In the City, lifes in the fast lane,
and with your lyin eyes, there will be a heartache tonite, but you can try and love again.

Do you think there is a hidden message in here?

The entire poem is a joy ride and a trip back in time...
The Eagles have some good tunes~
A very nice ending ..

This is fun reading .. enjoyed!

I liked the whole thing, but this part stood out. Like you are sympathetic, but making her aware that it isn't just HER. The Eagles are one of my very favorite bands, so I am partial to this one. Keep them coming. I am a huge fan of how you string these titles together. Well done!
