Dormant Demons

Dormant Demons

A Poem by Webster

Numb and wasted
Quiet and silent
Prick me over and over
Silent till you break the enlcosure

Calm to the bone
Crack me slightly
The light seeps through
Darkness takes o'er, blind all in power

Dormant on the outside
Happy a little deeper
Further the demon lies dormant
Until he wakes in torment

Hide the evil in
Burry it in ashes
Don't let the flames rejuvinate
They scortch all in eager wait

The darkness inside
Comes out with light
Not that which is desired
But that which we dread

Don't wake my demon within
He awaits that not so innocent meal
As he wakes from quiescence
Devour all, quite inerrant

This is a very strong and gorgeous piece full of so much strong emotion. Having to keep that monster in isn’t easy. ‘The darkness inside, comes out with the light.’ This poem is strong but also full of fear and worry. This is such a unique, well written piece. Thank you so much for sharing!
