Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by Gracie

I slowly undress and step in.

The warm water cresting my skin.

As i sit down, the water flows over me.

Swallows me whole.

I sink down deeper.

It lays over my face.

The water takes me to a place i rather be.

Where i don't have to worry.

I don't have those thoughts anymore.

Because now I'm dead.

I believe drowning is more desperate and emotional. Is a very bad way to go. A interesting poem. Death by water and want. A sad ending. The poem was direct and the tone accepting death with welcome arms. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

One can hear the water stirring and taking you deeper to this place of "peace." How we long for it, and ache to release our pain, but the numbness is such a beast. Your boredom obviously is very good for you... xo

I read this as a metaphor. You may have written it as direct but how I perceived it was through metaphor. Funny how my brain went right to the feeling of drowning emotionally. I related to this as an emotional drowning and an emotional death. This poem spoke very powerfully to me.

This is sad and packed with emotions. We could even see it in other way than being dead completely . Sometimes we drown in our own pain and our souls die. All that is left is the outer flesh.
The writer accepts death and welcomes it, rather than running away.
A sad yet beautiful piece of writing. :)

Nice

The shape of the poem looks like it could represent something. Not a barbel or a child's toy, but that is all I can think of. A visual artist would be more astute at such comparison...
