Steroid

Steroid

A Poem by HB Rita

I said, can I walk?
You smile and raise your hand
I said again, can I walk?
Now you cuddled me
I was then completely stagnant, absolutely stagnant
There was no one to hold hands without you around
I knew you were stupid to believe
But I did act like a fool
Because, people sinking in the ocean caught water hyacinth often
Why?
To live?
Or to survive?
The idea of survival-then unrealistic
People just know they will have to return to the shore
I got lost holding you as my last hope
Slowly my vision began to blurred
How did all my black hair fall?
You know
I see with great frustration,
Physical and mental changes
But you remain in the shape
Not for survival, but to live
I do not know whether i am alive
I can just feel the breath, still active
Steroid - please release me.

drugs change us in some way and most often not in a good one.
the ending comes as a surprise, or at least to me...as i am reading i went in a different direction...i was thinking of someone on the Titanic..imagining what was to come in mere moments.

Like this piece, a lot...it allows the reader to ponder...and relate in his or her own way.

HB,
Your poems lie deep in mystery . . . at least that is how I see them . . . almost illusionary . . . what we think we might see may not be what the speaker sees . . . or means through these visionary words. Effective. Good poetry leaves you wondering.

I am on high doses of steroids and feels horrible to live with...
As you search for your voice duringthis battle, I believe the journey to recovery may be it. A small window in time, that you will conquer and many will gather strength because of it and you will be stronger and more compassionate inspite of it and your words my be an encouragement even for yourself.
