Poem from Blueberry Muffins

Poem from Blueberry Muffins

A Poem by Harmony Best

The intensity is comparable to the pain behind the death of a loved one

Only reversed, like a newborn first witnessing the sun

I’m experiencing my first love, after already being love witness

I have to learn how to move my arms to hug and my lips to kiss

Through the process I’m taught the value of patience in time

And discover the difference between love that’s regular and love that shines

My human capabilities often make me tired and weak

Of this situation, which to no one I dare speak

And although the capacity of the passion inside

Equates to the calculated distance from the earth to where the sun resides

I am in confinement, because I am unable to physically express this craze

Unable to return this overly developed love that keeps me dazed

Like a dancer whose lost her legs but still feels the music in them

Or an artist without hands who can still feel the movement of a paint brush stem

Incomplete

Incomplete with someone of whom I will possibly never meet

It may seem as if I’m complaining but it’s just the reverse

I admire this catastrophic sphere of love without hurt

Because the passion is the only connection with us, it sits

And as long as the feeling is there, I’ll never have to question it

But even if it leaves, the experience is gold

So on to that, I will hold.
