Hop Skotch Bounce

Hop Skotch Bounce

A Poem by Holly Mason

Both feet down
chalk on the ground
cutest dress
sunshine happiness
drop the rock
where does it stop
now up on
one foot
tap goes the beat
seeing so wobbly
on the feet
hop skotch bounce
so fun to do
bringing back
a fond memory
or two

my bad...thank you so for reading*)
this brings me back to the Bronx...lots of concrete...not much grass, only a few trees...the concrete jungle...we could roller skate or play hopscotch on the cement..that was about it. or bounce balls off of buildings and then lose them on rooftops.

You've really captured the rhythm of this, reminded me of silly happy times and competing without hurting anyone. Went to an all girls' school so could flick up our skirts without being embarrassed! Played in the park too.. chalked out the 'grid' - knew the boys would peep to see if our knickers showed - learned to wear shorts or jeans though .. hee hee. Love your words, fun, real fun. Makes a change from the miseries first thing in the morning. .

Honestly, we boys used to watch girs hopscotch in complete bewilderment at what you were doing. One of you would always go "aw, i messed it up" and we'd be like "what? what did they do that was right. It makes no sense" :-)
And that is when male confusion at women begins :-)

Talk about memories, I feel like, I am back in grade 2 or 3, during recess time. A happier time, not filled with pain and hate.
