Home Of Frank

Home Of Frank

A Poem by Cassick Dame

You ain’t in possession of your identity, Frank

You ain’t the faintest idea on which way

And you ain’t got no way home

Frank, you were born into bricks

To a maiden that was sick

And a blue eyes sailor

An' you didn’t see him much, he was always there

High on a ledge or lost on the trek

He’d not the right mindset

Lost he was, ain’t he comin home

Frank, you’ve got a broken spirit

Frank, you’re a living dead

Frank, don’t you wish you were high on your meds

That brick home of yours, it’s turnin’ black

The walls or comin’ undone

An the stair’s, they don’t creak, they just crack to the end

The fireplace, it’s empty

The embers are gone

Not even the ashes will warm you now

An' the ceilin’, it’ll let loose

An' come tumbling

You won’t survive

That dust’ll come crawlin'

It’s go up and swallow into that body

And mind of yours

An the nails will wither

Frank, this ain’t gonna hold

Frank, this’ll be the end

Frank, you think you can win

You betta think twice, damn

That heart of yours, ain’t it dead

It was beaten, till it took to hunting

And all it got was hurting

That heart ain’t know nothing but failure

Ain’t no gals gonna take you

Much less hold your hand

You can try, and can keep going at it

The princess, though, she said no

And the lost one whispered, 'scram'

An' the young will wonder you away and

You ain’t gonna know any of them

This heart of yours, I’ll be thinking

It’s dead

It hasn’t survived and

This looks like that’s the best you could do

A few laughs, smiles, a lifetime of withdraw

Frank, there isn’t a chance

Frank, you gotta admit

Frank, we’ll all die alone, together

That maiden you knew

Your mother, she’s gone long ago

Her eyes no longer in your mind

An' her hair, it ain’t gonna reflect the light

An' she won’t be talking with you no more

She hugged you
An' she was the one who was with you

She wasn’t gonna leave your side

She wasn’t gonna be the one

Who said goodbye

Man, you can’t keep her out of your mind

She fed you in that oven room

An' she bathed, an' she raised you

She wasn’t gonna leave you

Frank, these are the times,

Frank, nothing ain’t the same

Frank, you gotta rest, gotta give in

Though, Frank, you gave it your all
