First Weekend Blues

First Weekend Blues

A Poem by Cassick Dame

There he is sitting on a bench
His mother has married a man named Kent
That’s the cold wind blowin’
I’m not sure where the sun went

His girl’s left him for another man
He’s got no place to land
No place to calm his head
He can’t even lead himself
To his own bed

This has turned all over the top
This is where it’s gonna turn to a bomb
Short fuse, short lose
Long sleep
Till the next beat
Not sure if I can stand the heat

The nights are long
I’m runnin’ out of bed,
I keep trying to learn a new song
Rushin’ down the street
Findin’ people new to meet
Though, I’m not sure of any to trust
I guess I’ll just have to put it up to my gut

There I was sittin’ on a bench
Just thinkin’ ‘bout where it all went
I’m not sure,
I’m sure I don’t care
So off I go with every place to roam
I ain’t felt this good since I first found my soul
That’s where I wanna go
To find where the sun went
