Song to Jenna

Song to Jenna

A Poem by Cassick Dame

Dedicated to my great Comrade, Jenna.

I wake on a Sunday morning

The sun bleeding through

The velvet red curtains

My guitar still singing

Though, sleepless thoughts are still lurking

Jenna, you always smile like the morning sun

Jenna, your mind seems to be awake

In a land of hopes and dreams

As reality still lurks with no song

My past ain’t much

Though I guess my shame is too much

I sure don’t like to talk much

Though I’ve never felt I’ve said enough

My thoughts have never given me a clear view

Jenna, you seem to hold forgiveness

Jenna, I hope I never upset you

That’s a ruin I’ll never forget

An action I’d never forgive

A Magpie will listen to my crying

And it’ll listen to my dreams of flying

Though, as soon as I pick up my guitar

It’ll wish I was dead by the strike of the dawn

It’s you who’ll take a moment and hear my song

Jenna, you are a listener to the lost

Jenna, your acceptance I ain’t gonna forget

Jenna, I hope the smile never goes away

Jenna, you’ll probably not leave my mind

through all of time
