Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Pookie

This darkness that's covering my feet, it just moved up a level' my ankels.

Soon I'll be taken over by the darkness and may never return. My world will soon be filled of nightmares, and the dead. I will soon be able to see the dead souls with my human eyes. I will never see the light again. I will never again be me, be the one everyone can't live without. I want you to be the one i can't live without, now. I want to feel my heart break when I don't see you when you turn your back on me.

Please, get the pure white candle at the end of the hall and light it.

Light the way.

Feel the cool candle wax on your finger tips. Walk the steps into the darkness. Chase it away. Make it stain the red oak wood floors with it's need to stay alive. Make it scream for live. Make it beg for murice. I want to see tears in it's eyes.

Light the way.

I want to feel the warm coming off of you in waves. I want to see that smile on your face because you're proud of me. I want to be back to normal.

This darkness is just above my knees, it is almost there.

Soon I will be taken down by this black endless mass. To wonder in the world of the dead. To be one of the dead. I will be the one they call to collect the souls that have wronged them....

Me thinks, me and the darkness are so much alike. I want revenge. I want to take those down that have wronged me in the past. I want them to feel my pain. I want them to see how it feels to be the one of the living in the land of the dead.

Hades sits on his thraon of bones, and thinks. He bents down and whispers in my ear, "Go! Take them! Make them feel how you felt when they failed you!" My eyes burn with fire of revenge. What my lord wishes it shall be done. I take all of those that sent me down here and bring them back with me.

"THEY WILL PAY!!! THEY"RE ALL GOING TO PAY!!!" I shout into the black sky.

Don't light the way.

Quite eerie and atmospheric! At the end of this poem, the light is actually regarded as a threat of some kind, by the protagonist. In places, the protagonist almost seems at one with the darkness. Or even, a part of it? Mysterious, and a genuinely interest read! Thankyou, for sharing this with us, and entering my Contest!

Love the way the intensity of emotion increases through this peace ending with complete resignation to the dark side. Shows just how damaging rejection and neglect can be. Excellent write!

I loved the ending, "Don't light the way". As if the speaker convinced herself it is better to embrace the darkness which is slowly taking possession of her. Wonderful writing, great job.

Whoa, you know how to bleed that darkness like no tomorrow... I was held captive in the power of this piece. So very descriptive and effective good use of words. It's amazing just how much talent I find here at WritersCafe.
