Pleasant memories

Pleasant memories

A Poem by Huw
"

I used to take a chap hiking who was blind from birth. I had the privilege of describing the things that I saw. It was at this time I realised how much I'd been missing and taking for granted.

"

I enjoy my daily walks

and I love my contemplations.

I'm contented in my thoughts

and having my senses filled

by what I see and hear and smell.

I'm astounded by the colours and more so

by tones and shades.

Textures intrigue me and the patterns

caused by movement and growth.

I love the effects that sunlight has

leaving somethings in shadow

The way the wind causes movement

and orchestrates the trees.

The sight and sounds of running water

still captivates the boy in me.

If when I am old and blind

I shall sit and play back

these experiences in my minds eye

and be content with my lot.

If all else fails please grant me pleasant memories.

Gee
If only I had your way with words...,...the way you write Huw is so different to others on here, and that last line is to die for.

About
I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
