Kidnapped

Kidnapped

A Poem by Iris Moon

Blind in the utter blackness
Silence, but for faded drips and
a thudding heartbeat
trying to escape the chest
An ever so light draft crawling
along the back of the neck
Taste of one's own saliva
that clogs the throat
A muggy basement, rotting trash
Hard, minuscule grains of particles
finding a way under nails and sticking
to wet fingertips that slowly graze the floor
