A Poem about Nothing in Particular

A Poem about Nothing in Particular

A Poem by Isabel25
"

I wanted to write, but couldn't come up with a good topic

"

Slow submersion in bottomless boredom,

Mind seething, fingers itching.

“Type!” hollers the blank document,

As brain beckons to poetic genius.

Piggy-bank of thoughts rattles,

Skim... scan...skip!

‘Nature’? monotonously misinterpreted,

‘Friendship’? overtly overrated,

Love’? slightly sickening,

‘Heartbreak’?  verily worn out,

‘Depression’? too depressing,

‘Death’? utterly ultimate,

‘Family’? ‘Food’? ‘Fantasy’?

‘Naps’, maybe?

Maybe I should just take one instead.

You are welcome muchly...:).....
Always one of the most frustrating things about writing - what hasn't already been done? Turning the frustration into humor and something we all here probably relate to was the key, and I love this! Our minds itch as much as our fingers and you captured that sensation well - as well as the way our mind is so quick to reject timeless topics. The alliteration here was great and I thought really added to the poem.

Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you for this wonderful review dear MN. I always love reading your reviews :D
all those worn out poetry topics...sometimes the block really ices up hard...not easy to melt...but writing about it is one good way...and this is intensely clever----you are so good!

Wonderful, Annie.
The perfect poem to put a smile on my face after wearing a stoic mask all day.
Thank you for sharing words that brighten the day.

I'm glad you are smiling, Annie.
