Together, All Alone

Together, All Alone

A Poem by JE Falcon
"

National Parks, Reflection, and maybe Bison.

"

Seated on a bolder

In the midst of Yellowstone

Reflecting on a Geyser

And a Bison, all alone.

Tis my place to unwind the springs

and let the cogs relax a while

In and among these wondrous lands

With a campground sort of style.

The Bison and I are not the same

Though similarities do exist

He has no pressing business plans

And the ones I had, I missed.

So we both reflect on the day's events

While moseying, --- roundabout.

But tonight, he'll have grass for supper

And I'm thinking, “I'll have Trout.”

He wanders about and chews his cud

And I lounge with a protein bar;

It's peanut-filled and vitamin-packed

So I should easily make it back to my car.

Just another day of reflection,

Another bolder to sit on,

Another day for examining life

Out in the great unknown.

***

Old Faithful finally blows it's top

And a hundred people, “Ohhhh!”

They take their pics on Selfie-sticks

Then, to another site they go.

But I'll stay seated on my bolder

In this place called Yellowstone

Reflecting on what life's about

In my newfound Bison zone.

No Wi-Fi,

No laptop,

No phone.

JE,

What a wonderful piece of your heart set to pen of page as I sip cold beer and a small shot of whiskey this pagan Friday morning ... I was swept away in most powerfully panoramic style by each and every word's lines and enjoying the trip all the while, as I felt and experienced Nature as it should done and as should be fun that failed not to be joy in the sun as I could almost hear Old Faithful spew its morning "Adieu," and could near to recognize that Bison, looking right in his eyes, and though I could not quite see you, I knew you were there too, for this was your poetic dream shared with an old fart from Texas like me ...

Fabulous write Falcon. What a wonderful way to spend time. I love the humour and the comparisons with Bison life. Made me smile. Nothing like the natural environment to lift the spirits. Yep, put the tech away and enjoy nature's gifts. Your poem is well crafted. Have a happy Friday.

There is a lot we can re-learn from nature. One thing being trying to remember what it was like before being immersed in technology. Just being outside again without our noses being buried in our phones. Being part of the world again as nature intended. Your point my friend is well taken in this mirthful little journey you take us on in your delightful poem.
