Foolish

Foolish

A Poem by JE Falcon

On the road of life

Were foolish men

Each walked a foolish path

At the end of their roads

They came to find

Devastation was their aftermath.

"Professing to be wise they became fools." Romans 1:22

Only the wise realize they are ignorant, trying to understand what they can never get their tiny mortal minds around. But fools will profess wisdom; puffed up by vanity and education or delusions of esoteric insight. The more we learn, the less we know; the more we know, the less we can learn. But devastation is an awful price to pay for the ignorance of the wise. I think that was the "leavening" of the Scribes and Pharisees; the yeast that swelled the heads in the making; the bellies in the baking and allowed itself the satisfaction of the status quo. Thanks for the thought invoking poetry.

Thank You.
I like think this to mean foolhardy daredevils or crazy impulsive folk. Kudos fo a fine didactic poem!

Much Thanks & Happy Trails. :)
there is no excuse for foolishness....although daring might be mistaken for foolishness.
taking risks can find new paths...
but they ask themselves, "is the devastation worth it?"
I like these short pieces....there is much in between the lines to savor.
