Body

Body

A Poem by John Sullivan

my body is powerful
this corpus of language
mind of metaphor
standing on legs of limerick
skull screaming rhyme scheme
defying definition
gnashing teeth
grinning typewriter keys
starved staring eyes
watching the ink flow
living
bleeding
today
tomorrow
hearts pound like marching snares
beating time to the day's reveille
lungs filled to the brim with lyric
new paragraph
indent

Very well said, we must make sure to grow... not to become stagnant.... thank you for reading!
Yes, we writers can sometimes become driven, to the point where we MUST write. I think the term "marching snares" has a double meaning here. It is indeed a drum, but a snare is also a trap. Obsession is not a good thing, no matter how much it produces.

John,
The struggle is REAL! I wonder from the tone, if you are a denizen of large city? When I get like this, i walk outside where there are more trees than people.

Ahahaha, all always, my most gracious thanks, Nev
Excellent. I love when I have those rare nights when I am "all about" poetry and it seems like it pours out of me. ~Jim

Yeah, it's good to be inspired. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does...

Thank you my friend, as always. It's nice to be back
Cleverly - nay, a brilliantly contrived, created and displayed play with words, metaphors galore!

'my body is powerful

mind of metaphor
standing on legs of limerick
skull screaming rhyme scheme
defying definition'

and the whole.. ..
