The dancer

The dancer

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

Dreaming of Big Sur.

"
Women by the sea Paintings by Inna Montano - Artist.com

She was a dancer...

She was a dancer and I was the Monterey Irish Pub drunk.
She could paint the sea, she could paint the forest
and she could paint beautiful faces and beautiful places with her delicate hands.

She sought laughter and the kind people.
I was the bar-room poet, the sea seeker
and I loved the silence.

She wanted to save her world and I would stay silence.
I wouldn't tell her. I knew. The world doesn't want to be saved.

She wanted to make me smile and she would find me drinking my seven o'clock coffee by the
Monterey pier. She would take my hands and she told me. No drinking whiskey, no bad attitude
and sweet wine wine at the River Inn.

We would find the River Inn at Big Sur and she would tell me.
Dear Poet. Please allow me to paint your face near the Pfeiffer beach dangerous sea.
We would drink the sweet wines till noon and in the afternoon.
We would go to Pfeiffer beach and we would climb into the rocks.
We allowed the sea to spray us and the Pacific ocean would awake us to
the wonders of our world. The beauty of the sea and the great forest near.

She told me often. I know you seek the good death. Please Johnnie,
better to seek the good life. You volunteer for every conflict and you do not want love.
But dear Johnnie, I will love you anyway and you will love me more than the whiskey.

She would go to the open water and she would dance with the ocean.
She was so beautiful, she was so wonderful and her kindness.
Made me feel human.

I told the Goddess of the sea often. Please give me one more night with dear Tiffany.
Please allow me to be in her eyes and to know peace.
She is my kindest friend and I do adore her.

one of your very best
I look outside and see the remnants of snow, frost on windshields, barren plant stems and cold, cold temps, all of which disappear as I recall those same coastal places you mention along the California coast, which seem to come alive, all enhanced by the beautiful painting, a work which would be hard to compare.
How fortunate Gainsborough's rejection of blue not being a painting's major color would eventually result in works such as this.
All so very nice.

Thank you dear Anita. I appreciate the comment.
Coyote,
Nothing better than a good narrative poem... I'm in love with Tiffany and admire how you captured the essence of her message in the lithe dance she does. The image IS the message.

Excellent Work again Coyote. Strangely enough, a female Friend bought me a Bukowski Book recently, and your style is very reminiscent - I enjoyed this a lot ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

We do John , they are the important factor in our lives...
Surely, surely you didn't let her go! She sounded like the al in all for any man, but especially you.
Tell me you didn't.

Take care - Dave
