My Road to Damascus

My Road to Damascus

A Poem by JadedSparrow

Vigorous in my raucous disdain,

Persistent in my zealous heckling

Perhaps not of the Body of Christ

But certainly of the believer in me

Hastily buried beneath my sinful ways

So I found myself traveling this road

Beginning yet another venture of vexation

Perpetual torment, my only intention

Brought harshly to my knees by confusion

Lost in bleak uncertainty for several sunsets

It was amidst this calamity I heard Him

Among contorted remnants which I saw Him

In spite of my heathenistic ways, I felt Him

Felt Him tugging at my mind & soul

And convicting my heart for disobedience

Journeying to persecute the believer in me

I was halted by an inquisitive, loving voice

Smitten with the blindness of bewilderment

After days of wandering, I was given clarity

So now I stand boldly to preach His Word

Thus embracing His calling on my life.

Author's Note

JadedSparrow
This particular piece of writing was inspired by the story of Saul and his conversion into one of the Lord's most revered Apostles, as well as my own transformation into the man of God that I'm becoming. It took a very long time and more falls than I care to give voice to before I realized that I couldn't run from the Lord any longer

Wow, what a powerful testimony. It is in the surrender that we find peace. One thing I know for sure is that God never gives up on us.
