Miss Popularity

Miss Popularity

A Poem by SuicidePact.

I’m the leader of the pack

The wearer of the skirt

Girl who fear me

Girls who want to be me.

I have admirers from a far,

I don’t even know who they are.

They’ll never find the courage,

To tell me that they love me,

They wish they were above me.

People say I’m a dream,

I’m the leader of the school team.

But nobody takes the time,

Don’t want to know what’s on my mind.

Is it worth being the on top?

Worth having no real friends?

I don’t want the perfect picture,

Just want you to see me for who I am.

Is there anybody out there?

Anyone willing to be my friend?

You are far from shallow, so kudos, finding empathy with a not so easy to admire other...then putting it on paper, from her point of view. You are not writing through your own eyes, which is what many of us too often do. Nice.

A very true poem. Are the populars always happy being at the top?

I like this, great thoughts. I always think it would kind of suck to be "popular"...

Sometimes what people see as perfection is anything but. And if someone puts another person on such a high pedestal it's never a good situation for either. Those who are considered 'perfect' are even more insecure and lonely. Sometimes you just have to show them who you are really.

Popularity has its price. Many of those from high school have a harder time when they're all grown and trying to find their way. Always have a few close friends nearby that allow you to be yourself and accept you for all that you are.

No one wants to be loved just for their outer beauty. We are so much more than just our looks. A thoughtful piece. We don't always see this side of a popular, attractive girl.

It's lonely at the top sometimes . . .

wow. at first i thought this poem would be about how annoying popular girls are but i like the new prospective, it shows a more sensitive side to them. maybe they are not happy where they are? maybe they realize they dont have any real friends? wow great write, it made me stop to think that maybe popular girls are not what they seem to be.
