The Inferno

The Inferno

A Poem by Jason Shadows
"

When All Is Gone.

"
"I Once Had It All.
Never To Care About The Weak.
 Forgot The Helpless.
Turned My Back On The Poor.
 Washed My Tears Away.

 Bouncing Chains If Remorse Cared.
 My Own Shadow In Shame.
 No One To Turn To.
 I Was Just Like You.
 A Mere Mortal A Human.

 Just With More Money.
 I Did What I Wanted.
 Didn't Care At All.
 Just A Stuck Up.
 Walking With Power.

 Now Times Have Changed.
Walking Out Of The Bomb Shelter.
 Theres Nothing Left.
 Scorched Land And Crumbling Buildings.
My Mansion Wrap Around A Battleship In The Distance.

 Walking Into The Inferno.
 I Search For Surviver's.
Knowing I Cannot Survive On My Own.
I Look Into My Friends House's.
 To My Disbelief.
 They Are All Charcoal.

Tears Rush Back Into My Eyes.
Hand Over Hand On My Mouth.
 Memories Creep Through My Mind.
 Remembering Great Times.
 No More They Are Gone.

 In Desperation.
I Remain Silent In The Fire In The Air.
 Burning Winds Whisper To Me.
 Your All Alone.
 With Nothing Left For Me.
No Money No Family Or Friends.

I Must End The Torment Here And Now.
I Walk Above To The Cliff Of Desolation.
With My Clothes Burnt And Shoes Melted.
The Skin On My Face Melting Off.
I Use All My Strength To Look Up.
Ashes Of The Dead Fly Upward To Home.
Me I'm Just No One Anymore.

This Is The End For Me.
 I Can't Ask For Help.
 Theres No One There.
Its All Gone Just Remembering It Hurts.
Take One Step Closer To Death's Doors.
To See A New Light In My Eyes.
 As Everything Goes Dark.

I Can Smell Their Flesh Still Burning.
I Open My Eyes To See Something New.
 The Skies Split Apart.
A Bright Light Burst Out Above.
 Then There Is Silents.
It Was Just Another Nuclear Missile."
