undone

undone

A Poem by Jen
"

written in my '40s

"

she's come undone

repeat

she's come undone

it began as a nudge

a tugging at the wall of belief

built so resourcefully

a nudge, what was it?

a disinterested glance away

a conversation diverted from topic

she didn't know what she was headed for

blindsided, sideswiped, slammed

before the realization

that the armor failed

stunned silence

intake of breath

then review

and by the time she knew what she was headed for

it was too late

crumbling exterior

matching the demolished interior

devastating blows

undone

done in

not prepared for, unequivocally unequipped for, ill fated -- doomed

that response, rejection, reaction, retraction, revocation

she’s come undone,

it’s gone too far

she’s lost the sun

retreat, revive, renew

as miss scarlett said

tomorrow is, another day

'What's done cannot be undone' wrote Shakespeare ('Macbeth').
Forward is the only way...
Yes, another day
'tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow'
