Freedom of the pen

When I write I feel so free, it's been my favourite gift
It's how I am truly me, it's how I give myself a lift
I write down how I feel, it becomes my counselling
It helps me stay real instead of always dwelling
My words used to be so darkening now they are so bright
My words are my awakening they make it all right
