Continuous Fragments

Continuous Fragments

A Poem by Katie Foutz Voss
"

things I do during Ren Lit: 1. write poems. 2. check the time.

"

And this is the caustic compulsion
born in us of regulated itineraries,
of ages spent in scheduled anxiety,
ticking on, skeletal hands in continuous
fragments. Time never slows for us
nor does it make haste or quicken
as we fidget and glance at the clock.

Again, a perfectly photographed fragment of anxiety. I really enjoy your work.

I like this. Probably because I know the feeling very well. I love your phrasing "caustic compulsion" and "continuous fragments". Interesting and unique ways to say simple things.
