I once knew

I once knew

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You were enticed by the actions of a vice world so now you sacrificed the nice girl we once knew
You broke on through to the other side where nightmares live and dreams die
But I’ll hand it to ya, you deceived our naked eyes
20/20 vision and I didn’t realize that angels can be demonized
People blame the cardholder but I blame the dealer
I blame this world and it’s actions for supplying the pain instead of being a healer
You’re lost but not gone
I don’t know why I’m still quite fond of you
That’s just how it goes
The good in you is dying while the anger grows
But I’ll still show my support
I still have my faith
Not in God but in the hopes that you’ll escape this place

Quite profound in it's own way, you have a way of making it feel so personal.
