2019 or so they say

A Poem by Joey Martinez

It’s a new year but I feel as if time has stood clear from moving forward and more towards an abrupt halt.
The hands on the clock aren’t at fault, as a matter of fact I don’t know who’s to blame.
I know I haven’t gone insane for there are others who feel the same way, stuck in a loop with similar minded troops who try to snoop for an escape.
Memories start to blur while others concur.
Am I on the same realm? How can you be so sure?
I know we’re growing old but I feel as if time has lost its hold on our development.
Perhaps we’re on another schedule, unaware due to the distractions social media bares.
They always told me about the responsibilities of adulthood but I was never taught the consequences of “time.”
The hands on the watch continue to grind while we stand still.
I can’t be the only one who believes the hourglass has spilled...
