Silent Pleas

Silent Pleas

A Poem by John Brooks
"

Someone with severe depression looks for a way out but is ultimately trapped in the darkness.

"
Hidden, in silent pleas,
embedded in my cries
Darkness brought a single light
Lying, in worlds of darkness
In the crying night
Darkness bound me in a single right,
Cooling emb’rs- of the world left behind,
Left me a solitary key, tempting my find-
Maybe still is- but most certainly was
Left me down to die in fright’n’d confusion,
Held me to drown in blind delusion
The scars forever etched
remains of fiery trail
Giv’n warning of errant wails
Hidden, in silent pleas,
Embedd’d in mournful cries
Darkness left, the only light
