One More Hit

One More Hit

A Poem by John Brooks
"

Drunk driving from the perspective of the driver

"
One more bottle,
One More Hit,
After this I’m going home
One last drink, this is it

Drive back home, follow the line
Just make it home and I’ll be fine
Keep on going, past this light

I didn’t see the car- I thought it was alright
I’m sorry, what they told me was a lie,
I didn’t realize someone had to die

Every night, I hear their cries
Every night, they told me lies
One more bottle,
One More Hit
One last drink, this is it

A poignant tale of hits and cries and dark circles...nicely penned!

Simple message if you drive a car there are risks. If you drive a car when drunk you have to be an idiot. A few minutes thoughtlessness can cause a lifetime of misery. Well conveyed.

One more. Therein lies the tragedy.
