The Haunted One

The Haunted One

A Poem by MsJewel

When night gives pause to the pale moon above

where beauty found me once, my heart, your love

still warms this tender place where I’ve become

a prisoner to the night, the haunted one

Catching whispers of moonlit memories

of words that lovers say, now reveries

to dress my pillow, silly as it seems

with visions of you love, and in these dreams…

You kiss my lips and brush the falling tears

in which I drown and yet I breathe, the years

cannot erase the ache, although divine

are the night skies above when moonlight shines

You may keep a piece of this heart that grieves

and I will keep the night, the memories

A very sad write tenderly inked with love and devotion to a lost love. Filled with a deep longing the past is gently woven into the present. The night sky, beautiful though it is, cannot erase the heartache as magical moments shared under its moonlight glow, now no longer exist. All that remain are the memories. A very beautiful, poignant write. Eloquently expressed through excellent word choice and depiction. Lovely work! Thank you for sharing, Julie...

It seems that bittersweet memories are inescapable in the dark of night. Your words convey a mixture of love and loss that the heart simply cannot let go. Beautiful words, rhyming and rhythmic phrases make this write another masterpiece Julie. It is so nice to read you again!

A classic romance poem here. The moon has traditionally been a symbol of romantic love and it is used very effectively here. As is often the case, the beloved is somewhere distant. Absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder.

Very romantic and emotive. So many lines to pick and enjoy in the oneness and effect of love. You are good at this wonderful genre.
