Rage

Rage

A Poem by Justin Street

You know I try to visualize
Things I love
People I despise

But nothing compares
To the pictures I see
I feel this despair
I hate this family

From the point of no return
I set the house on fire
I want to see it burn
It is my lone desire

Satisfactory is a word
But a word I’ll never use
This feeling is absurd
Why do I feel abused

The paint turns gray
And the wood a black
What could I possibly say
To make time go back

Flames engulf my heart
It is this rage I feel
These tears run like fire
Its burning is so real

I fear this need
A broken heart compels
This is my plea
Please oh god listen well

Tell her I am sorry
For I treated her wrong
Up in the sky so starry
Please hope hear my song!

My breathing is at a halt
The smoke fills my lungs
Memories flash, it is my fault
Blazing hate blood on my tongue

The her I refer to is my mother. I centered this around a dream of mine, after which i felt a wave of guilt and regret. And thus became rage

Shouldn't it be: "I set the house on fire" or did you mean "of", otherwise I'm not sure of the meaning exactly. And this line also confuses me a little: "Why do I feel abused" I didn't understand where the word "abused" came from or what it's supposed to mean. Feel free to explain. No wait, is burning the house a feeling, a desire, a dream or something along those lines? I dunno.

Um, also "god" should be captitalized.

Also who's the "her" you're referring to. I don't understand. And why'd you say "blazing hate" when the narrator seemed feel an ounce remorse such as wanting to go back?

Overall, the imgrey is amzaing. I like the comparison of tears and fire. That's really unigue. I complement you for sharing.

You know, I can really relate to this. I'm still stuck in a house where I feel abused and unwanted... and it hurts to know that I give so much to them, and love them with everything I have- and they just hurt me.

I want you to know that this poem really touches me, and it stirs up old, excruciating memories that I try to keep locked away, pushed to the side, so I can deal with them later. It takes a lot of prodding and poignant emotion to get through to me like this.

Such a great write, even though it seems effortless.
