Doubles

Doubles

A Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge

I like to think that

every day I'll grow

from what I do

and things I know

a lesson shared

a story read

a kindness given

or a crust of bread

when given with love

doubles...

I have such power

with some simple words

with some quiet strength

with a hand upturned

Give an easy smile

that I never knew

comes from deep inside

and when shared with you

doubles...

I didn't know until today

why you look so sad

why you hang your head

why you look away

But then you said

and you hugged me tight

and thanked me for

doing something.....Right....

My "nothing" was "something"

that means "the world" to you

I just took some time

spoke and listened too

And the gift is mine when

I got to see

A smile so full

glowing back at me

like a jackpot won

of the biggest prize

Renewed shoulders back

New Hope growing in your eyes

...doubles.

It never ceases to amaze me how one's own kindness can mean so much to another. I think that when we have been blessed, we tend to take what we have for granted much too easily. In a way, this piece conveys just that. It shows how a little kindness goes a long way, longer than expected, really. It truly does "double."

this is a very touching piece... I know what you said about seeing people like I described, but to actually touch somebody is so noble... to take the time out of your day, how little it may be and how much it may mean to someone... a true work of inspiration! and to write a piece about "the ignored" and to put an individual on center stage, even for a day, it is a true gift! Thank you for the inspiration!

Oh, I love the title... doubles... so true. "Don't ever think a true kindness is not pure magic!"... I threw that quote at the wall and it stuck... yep, it's the real deal - pure magic indeed. Very inspiring... this is what it's all about.

The best part, all that you want to do - growing and sharing is because of hope. Hope allows us to conquer so much. A motivational piece indeed. I enjoyed.

What a lovely poem. True and magical, this poem shows us all just how much a gift from the heart "doubles". Great job on the rhyme scheme-it carried the poem through. Overall: Great Job!
