Downpour

Downpour

A Poem by Channing S.
"

This is my song for a character I made up a long time ago... I know it may seem silly, but I invest so much in these characters... And writing things like this for them just adds to that...

"
Take my hand in the rain
And I'll forget it all again
Can't recall what she sang
But her voice it rang like bells

Wandered far down the trail
Soaked to the bone as hail came crashing down

Perfect ringlets gentle curls took to their damp and tangled form
Honey eyes and sweetheart mouth urged me to keep on
Down the path

My voice shook endlessly as she
Led me way up high
Kicked off our shoes like a careless child
Limbs dangled from the highest branch
To make her mine, now was the chance

No mascara trailed her cheeks
Petal lips they softly smiled
The look on her face now, oh

I held her tight in the rain
We forgot it all again
Can't recall what she said
But her voice it rang like bells

She pressed her hand against my chest
And she sang aloud
"Please fix me, I'm empty.
So broken.
So lost.
Whatever is the cost, of a new life. Please teach me to forget the past.
Can the rain wash it away?"

So broken.
So lost.
So please tell me the cost. (Please fix me, I'm empty)

Darling just take my hand (Can the rain wash it away?)
The rain can't wash it all away
The rain can't wash it all away
Her voice was broken bells.
Yes broken.
And lost.
Baby I'm sorry its your loss
This rain can't wash it all away
Downpour, a heavy rain
