Caged Humanity

Men caged in the mystery of life,
running helter-skelter that they might survive.
Single day with sumless strife,
trying all they could to get out of the trap.

The loop holes are hidden from the eyes.
The escape route lies somewhere blank.
Men keep running over and over
often returning to where they started.

Nevertheless, among the rest,
few people are getting out of the net.
People who keeps looking for the best
and could see the light through the darkness.

I'm not sure if your msg is meant to be a statement about MEN (males in particular) becuz you use the word "men" twice & then you switch to "among the rest, few people" which makes me think you might be comparing MEN (males) to all the rest (presumably women?) Anyhow, this is not clear to me, in the way you use these words that imply gender or include any gender. In general, I prefer to use words like "humans" or "people" or "beings" to get away from any gender association that's not intended.

As for the overall msg, I like it -- it's strong, thought-provoking, & true. Your poem causes me to ponder how humans believe ourselves to be masters of all things, yet we are the most confused & muddled of all the planet's creatures! Your poem seems to be saying that we are all in this together, we all share our confused sense of purpose, we all bear out the mistakes & misunderstandings. This is the opposite of playing the blame game. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Wow, what images floods my mind on reading this poem, truth about humanity in general Kay. Very astute observation stated as well. How we as humans do actually go around in a circle and bite our own butts. Due to social situations not due to our own doing but by big governments and politics and so forthwith.

Thank you so much Rye.
I really appreciate your kind response.
You express that experience of being trapped by circumstance and being helpless. Many people all over the world feel this way. Those in poverty, especially those in India and Africa who lack even drinking water or those in war zones such as the Kurds in Syria or the people of Yemen. In the end you finish on a hopeful note and human's need that threat to hold on to if they are to endure hardship!
